Combating Child Trafficking: New Raid by Municipal Police in Koudougou

Koudougou: The Koudougou municipal police conducted a meticulous operation at the Koudougou bus station, intercepting a trafficker of minors with five young victims of his network.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the victims, aged 12 to 16, including a 16-year-old high school student from Kamedji, had been lured by promises of easy money. The traffickers enticed the children with the prospect of an "Eldorado" in the gold mines of a neighboring country, a tactic commonly used by mafia networks to exploit young people.

Thanks to a crucial tip from a citizen, law enforcement was able to act quickly. The suspect was apprehended and handed over to the judicial authorities. The minors were immediately placed in the care of child protection services for appropriate support.

While commending the cooperation of the community, the municipal police, through its director, Patrice Bonkoungou, reiterated that the fight against this threat begins at home. They urge parents to raise awareness about the dangers of trafficking networks and to increase their supervision of their children's movements.

"We remain determined to block the path of criminal networks. Your cooperation is our best weapon."
