Kisumu: The Committee Overseeing Implementation of the 10-Point Agenda (COIN-10) has issued a warning to political leaders, urging them to refrain from politicizing the implementation of the reform agenda. The committee cautioned that misinformation could jeopardize the outcomes of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) process.
According to Kenya News Agency, Gabriel Oguda, a member of COIN-10, highlighted that some politicians are spreading misinformation about the status of the 10-point agenda, which could erode public trust in the agreement between President Dr. William Ruto and the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Oguda made these remarks during a community football tournament held at Jimo primary school in Seme Sub-county, Kisumu.
Oguda emphasized that the agenda is the core result of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the two leaders in March and should be discussed factually, without political bias. He dismissed claims that private consultations by Raila Odinga altered the agr
eement, asserting that the signed document is the only binding reference.
Oguda also criticized some leaders for misrepresenting the implementation status to gain political advantage. He stated that COIN-10 is the only body authorized to track progress and inform the public. The committee plans to release a comprehensive public report in March next year, marking the MoU’s first anniversary, and urged Kenyans to rely on this report rather than political narratives.
The football tournament was part of COIN-10’s public participation strategy, with Oguda noting that informal community forums are effective for engaging citizens on the agenda. COIN-10 is a five-member oversight committee formed to oversee the implementation of key NADCO proposals, focusing on national concerns such as cost of living, job creation, public debt, and inclusivity.
During the same event, Raila Odinga Jr called on leaders, especially within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), to support the agenda to honor his father’s legacy. He hi
ghlighted issues like food insecurity and the rising cost of living as critical challenges. Seme MP Dr. James Nyikal pledged parliamentary support to ensure full implementation of the agenda, while the tournament, organized by a local committee, featured four teams and awarded cash prizes and sports kits to participants.
