Closing in Style of the 8th Edition of FESMUDN in Névré

Ziro (Centre-West): It was in a heated atmosphere of sounds, dances and emotions that the 8th edition of the Névré Traditional Music and Dance Festival (FESMUDN) ended this Saturday, organized by the Ke-n-den-lè Association for the Development of the Village of Névré (AKDN), chaired by Halidou Nigna.

According to Burkina Information Agency, an edition rich in color, symbolism and hope, was celebrated under the theme: ‘Culture and resilience of populations: FESMUDN as a link and strength.’ Chaired by High Commissioner Saïba Zoromé, the closing ceremony lived up to all its promises, bringing together a large crowd who came to vibrate to the rhythm of ancestral traditions.

In his address, Mr. Zoromé did not fail to salute the determination and self-sacrifice of the AKDN, organizer of the event, for its constant commitment to the preservation and promotion of local cultural heritage. Since its creation in 2007, FESMUDN has established itself as a crucible for promoting local traditions. This 8th edition was mar
ked by a varied and captivating program: mystical mask dances, children’s performances with captivating rhythms, ritual chants and artistic performances retracing local cultures and traditions.

From the masks of Korobou in Sissili to the Pool Jeune troupe of Névré in Ziro, including the mask troupe of Bogoum (Sissili) and the Nabonon troupe of Gao (Ziro), a host of traditional musicians took to the stage, offering a high-quality show to festival-goers. In the public square of Névré, the crowds were swept away by the frenetic beat of the tom-toms, the guttural chants carrying memories, and the whirling dances of the troupes from diverse backgrounds. A true immersion into the soul of a resilient people.

“The FESMUDN is our soul, our pride, and our heritage. It brings us together, consoles us, and restores strength to our communities,” confided one moved festival-goer. The festival ended to a standing ovation from a captivated audience, promising to return in even greater numbers for the next edition. In Névré
