WOTE: The Administrative Secretary of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese of Makueni, Reverend Dominic Kasoo, has called on the government to introduce regulations on the advertisement of processed foods on radio and television, citing concerns over rising health issues among children in the country. According to Kenya News Agency, Reverend Kasoo expressed concerns that certain foods advertised in electronic media are allegedly mishandled before processing, which he claims has led to increased illness among children. "Food is harvested well from the farms, but it is handled poorly when it reaches factories. The government should put in place checks to ensure the foods are well processed before they are consumed by our children to minimize diseases," Reverend Kasoo stated during a media briefing in his Wote town office. Furthermore, in his capacity as the Vice Chairperson of the Makueni County Coordination Committee, Reverend Kasoo advised Kenyans to consider incorporating traditional foods such as pu mpkin, sweet potatoes, and vegetables into their diets, highlighting their nutritional benefits. "We must revive the farming practices of our grandfathers, focusing on traditional foods that naturally nourish our bodies," he emphasized.
