Operation high density ‘ Shanela’ impacts positively on crime in Mpumalanga
Operation High Density, termed ‘Shanela’ impacts positively on crime as it is rolled out across the province of Mpumalanga.
Amongst the suspects that were recently nabbed between 21 June 2023 and 22 June 2023 in the District of Ehlanzeni, there were eight (08) that were arrested and charged for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, three (03) were arrested for malicious damage to property, one was arrested for rape, meanwhile four were arrested for theft, and another one was apprehended for illegal possession of a firearm with ammunition. Their cases are before various Courts across the Ehlanzeni District.
The achievement has been regarded as a positive move by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela who indicated that the operation has given an opportunity to the men and women in Blue as well as other law enforcement agencies, to maintain high visibility. According to the General, the operation presents a chance to arrest those suspects that are sought for various offences. “Since this ongoing operation was launched in the province last month (May 2023), we are witnessing a lot of successes as the operation is rolled out. We believe that the achievements that are made as a result of this operation, public confidence may be restored” said the General
