Civil-Military Race Strengthens Community Bonds in Fada N’Gourma

Gougourma: A joint civilian-military cross-country race mobilized more than 500 members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the local population on Thursday, December 4, 2025, to strengthen their bonds during the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Fada N'Gourma municipal police. The race was officially launched by the Secretary General of the Gourma Province, Yaya Kone.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General of the Gourma Province, Yaya Kone, highlighted the purpose of the event as a means to "strengthen the links between the FDS, and between civilians and the FDS." The gathering aimed to foster a sense of unity amidst ongoing security challenges.

Kone emphasized the importance of social cohesion in the face of persistent threats, noting that such unity is essential to confront the security challenges effectively. "It is at this price that we will be able to overcome this common evil," he stated, expressing appreciation for the collective effort displayed by both the forces and the community.

The civil-military cross-country race is one of several activities commemorating the 30th anniversary of the municipal police. These initiatives are designed to enhance collaboration between security forces and local communities, reinforcing ties and promoting mutual understanding.
