Civic Ceremony Held at Kaya Remand Center Emphasizes National Pride

KAYA — The Kaya remand and correctional center hosted a significant civic ceremony on August 6, 2024, under the guidance of the secretary general of the Center-North region, featuring the traditional raising of the national colors the day after Burkina Faso’s Independence Day.

According to Burkina Information Agency, who spoke at the event, the ceremony served not only as a tribute to the nation’s 64 years of striving for genuine independence but also as a platform for civic engagement and information exchange among the region’s bodies. He emphasized the event’s role in reinforcing the community’s bond to the homeland, highlighted by the communal singing of the national anthem.

The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate local achievements and honor distinguished individuals and organizations within the region. Notable mentions included the Center-Nord emerging sports school, which secured the second prize in volleyball at the ‘Efforts’ competition in Tenkodogo, and the Kaya university center, which won the first prize in the pétanque category during the National Week of Arts and Culture of the Universities of Burkina (SENAC-UB). Additionally, the National Confederation of Culture (CNC) utilized the occasion to express gratitude towards contributors to the peace fundraising initiative launched in April 2024.

Certificates of recognition were presented under the flag to notable regional figures, including the governor and His Majesty Naaba Sigri, king of Boussouma, acknowledging their contributions to the community and the nation.
