Koudougou: The civic and patriotic training activity for students in the intermediate classes of secondary school, launched last week, continues on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the Koudougou departmental high school, AIB observed on site on Tuesday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a visit on January 20th to the grounds of the Koudougou provincial high school, accompanied by local authorities, provided an opportunity to observe the atmosphere of the training program. This initiative aligns with the President's vision of instilling in young learners the values of civic responsibility, discipline, patriotism, and civic engagement.
Present at the event, Florent Pema Neya, the representative of the Presidency of Burkina Faso to the Nando region, praised the foresight of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, for involving students from a very young age in learning the nation's fundamental values. According to him, this approach aims to decolonize mindsets and bring about lasting changes in behavior through order, discipline, and respect for republican values. He expressed his satisfaction with what he observed on the ground and commended the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) responsible for providing guidance.
According to Bienzi Didier Par©, the regional director in charge of secondary education in Nando, this civic and patriotic guidance program for the 2025-2026 school year will target students in the intermediate grades, specifically sixth, seventh, eighth, tenth, and eleventh grades. Students in exam classes will benefit from this program after their final exams.
He specified that this activity is the result of regional consultation conducted under the authority of the governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves B©r©, with the involvement of several technical departments, including health, national police, gendarmerie, firefighters, water and forests, alongside educational structures.
According to Mr. Par©, initial observations on the ground are encouraging, particularly the students' mastery of close-order drill. He believes that discipline begins with body control and that the civics and patriotism modules will help make these learners exemplary students in the classroom.
He also expressed his gratitude to the security forces and health workers, while calling on parents to support this government initiative.
The students who benefited also expressed their satisfaction. Rakiswend© Laki Alan Sawadogo indicated that he had learned discipline, solidarity and social cohesion, values which, according to him, will be useful in daily life and for becoming a responsible future citizen.
For her part, Esther Dorcas Guissou praised an unprecedented activity in her establishment, which allows her to learn good behavior, military marching and living together with her classmates and supervisors.
Through this initiative, the authorities intend to lay the foundations for a conscious, disciplined and committed generation to build the Burkina Faso of tomorrow.
