Civic and Patriotic Education Initiative Engages Over 28,000 Students in Kouls©

Kaya: The governor of the Kouls© region, Colonel-Major Z. Blaise Ou©draogo, officially launched the first session of civic and patriotic training for students in intermediate classes of high schools and colleges. The ceremony took place in the presence of students, supervisors, and administrative, military, and paramilitary authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this session follows a decision by the Burkinabe government, prompted by the success of the mandatory patriotic immersion of 2025 baccalaureate graduates. This training is now mandatory for students in grades 6, 5, 4, 2, and 1, who will undergo a 45-day program aimed at enhancing civic spirit, discipline, and patriotic commitment among school youth.

The launch at Moussa Kargougou Provincial High School signifies the commencement of supervision for over 28,040 students, including 16,770 girls, from both public and private schools in the region. These students are distributed across several designated sites for the program.

The governor highlighted that the training is structured to "forge useful citizens for Burkina Faso," with two main phases: integration and collective cohesion, followed by a focus on know-how and interpersonal skills. Addressing initial delays, Colonel-Major Ou©draogo emphasized punctuality and educational discipline, urging supervisors to "sanction in order to correct and deter, without excess," and expressed a desire for sessions to begin with the ditany¨ to foster both physical and mental transformation.

Hamad© Tinto, the provincial director of secondary education and vocational and technical training in Sandbondtenga, detailed that the program includes physical activities and theoretical courses lasting two hours, scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Themes will cover civic and patriotic values, solidarity, drugs and drug addiction, school violence, and hygiene and sanitation in schools.
