Ziro: Citizen Watch cleans up the town’s market: As part of the second edition of the days of patriotic commitment and citizen participation instituted by the Burkinabe government, the activists of the Citizen Watch of the commune of Sapouy organized Thursday, a sanitation operation at the communal market.
According to Burkina Information Agency, equipped with rakes, brooms, machetes and wheelbarrows, members of the Citizen Watch, accompanied by several traders, began cleaning the market early in the morning. This gesture aimed to support the national movement toward active citizenship and sanitation.
“Since the government has established a fortnight of patriotic commitment and civic participation from October 2 to 16, we wanted to mark our contribution through this civic action at the Sapouy market,” said Neyoua Tagnan, the municipal president of the Citizen Watch.
The mobilization was deemed “very satisfactory” by Tagnan, noting the participation of several activists and shopkeepers. “This proves that the people of Sapouy increasingly understand the importance of getting involved in the cleanliness of their living environment,” he added.
Tagnan also praised the vision of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, whose actions, according to him, signify a desire to awaken civic awareness and restore dignity to the Burkinabe people.
The Sapouy municipal office of Citizen Watch is conducting its second activity since its establishment. “On October 11, we were at the Sapouy urban CSPS. Today, we have taken over the market and in the coming days, we plan to extend our activities to the town hall and other administrative services,” announced Mr. Tagnan.
He invited all associations and organizations in the commune to support the government’s efforts in promoting civic-mindedness, patriotism, and public health. Tagnan emphasized that the activity is both a cleaning act and an awareness campaign for market users: “Cleaning up your environment means preserving everyone’s health. Everyone must play their part.”
