Citizen Watch Inaugurates ‘His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré’ Roundabout in Kayao


Tuy/Commune of Koti: The citizen watch of Kayao, a village in the rural commune of Koti within the Tuy province, marked a significant occasion with the inauguration of three new roundabouts on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Among them, the main attraction is the ‘His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré’ roundabout, dedicated to the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the inauguration ceremony saw the presence of Lassina Dierma, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the Koti commune, alongside a highly mobilized local population. Strategically located at the village center, the roundabout is constructed using local materials and is decorated in the national colors, featuring flags of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Russia.

George Fandié, the president of the organizing committee, hailed the initiative led by Amos Fandié, the focal point of citizen monitoring. He emphasized that the new infrastructure represents the deep connection of Kayao’s people to the ongo
ing popular progressive revolution. Fandié encouraged residents to remain united in support of President Traoré and his government in their quest for national sovereignty.

The provincial president of the Tuy Citizen Watch, Rasmané Siguiré, called upon the village community to join in contributing to peace efforts. Lassina Dierma, the PDS of Koti, praised the community’s initiative, urging the residents to rely on their own capabilities, highlighting that no external help would build their nation for them. He further motivated the locals to stay vigilant in tackling the challenges confronting the village.

The event also witnessed the inauguration of two additional roundabouts at the East and West exits of Kayao. The first roundabout is named in honor of Dombo Fandié, the founder of Kayao village, while the second commemorates Hou Fandié, a warrior known for resisting Samory Touré’s wars against Kayao. The ceremony was enlivened by performances from traditional troupes and artists.
