Citizen Monitoring Associations Launch Reforestation Effort in Nouna

NOUNA—The provincial coordination of citizen monitoring associations in Kossi took a significant step towards environmental conservation by planting 20 seedlings, including mango, baobab, morenga, and cashew trees, at the Nouna town hall on Monday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the planting event was attended by Harouna Zerbo, the secretary general of the Nouna town hall, and was supervised by Assimou Toé. This initiative is part of a broader reforestation campaign aimed at bolstering the local ecosystem and aligns with national environmental objectives.

Adama Dao, the coordinator of the movement, emphasized that the goal of this planting is to directly support the reforestation efforts encouraged by the country’s highest authorities. The selection of diverse tree species like mango, baobab, morenga, and cashew reflects a strategic approach to enhance the ecological variety and resilience of the local area.

The event not only highlights the proactive role of citizen groups in environmental stewardship but also showcases the community’s commitment to sustainable development practices. The involvement of local government officials and environmental services underscores a collaborative effort to ensure the success of these green initiatives.
