OUAGADOUGOU — The Commission on Informatics and Liberties (CIL) hosted a seminar on Wednesday, focusing on personal data protection and the use of social networks for staff of Burkinabe diplomatic missions and consular posts.
According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the CIL, the seminar aimed to educate Burkinabe diplomats on the legal and institutional frameworks governing personal data protection. The discussions also addressed the responsible use of social networks, emphasizing the critical need to secure diplomatic data due to its sensitivity and importance.
Issa Boro, Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of Foreign Affairs, praised the initiative, noting the daily engagement of embassy staff with personal data and the complexities introduced by social networks. The seminar is intended to reinforce the understanding and application of data protection laws among diplomatic personnel, ensuring they manage sensitive information with the highest level of security and compliance.
