Luanda: Namibe Governor Archer Mangueira on Sunday in MoçSmedes, acknowledged the contribution of Angolan churches to achieving peace and national reconciliation. During a religious ceremony celebrating Independence Day on November 11, Mangueira emphasized that churches have played a fundamental role in fostering peace, unity, and reconciliation among the people. According to Angola Press News Agency, Mangueira stated, "We are gathered here because we recognize the important role of churches in achieving peace and national reconciliation. This is the same belief that sustained our ancestors in the struggle for liberation and independence." He highlighted the ongoing need for Angolans to continue building a reconciled and prosperous nation and expressed gratitude to all those who fought for national recognition and offered prayers that maintained hope. "Brothers and sisters, the peace we experience today is a blessing we welcome every day because it is not merely the absence of war but the presence of God in our hearts, forgiveness that liberates, and unity that builds," he further remarked. Reverend Neves Ngunga of the Pentecostal Assembly of God Church also spoke at the event, urging society to cherish peace and reconciliation, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Independence with joy.
