Chula Chula Triumphs in Dr Hage Geingob Cup with Victory Over African Stars

WINDHOEK: Eeshoke Chula Chula Football Club successfully retained the Dr Hage Geingob Cup, defeating Debmarine Namibia Premiership champions African Stars with a 2-0 victory at the Independence Stadium. The match, witnessed by over 8,000 spectators, saw Chula Chula secure their win with goals scored by Marselinu George and Eliakim Jackson in each half.

According to Namibia News Agency, the game was marked by impressive performances from both teams on a well-maintained pitch. African Stars’ striker Willy Stephanus started strong with notable passes early in the first half, but was effectively contained by the Chula Chula defense for the remainder of the match. Eeshoke Chula Chula took a 1-0 lead into halftime and quickly extended it with an early second-half goal, capitalizing on a lapse in African Stars’ defense. Despite increasing their offensive efforts, African Stars were unable to score, missing crucial opportunities including a penalty by Stephanus. This allowed Chula Chula to secure the cup for the sec
ond time along with N. dollars 300,000 in prize money.

The day’s events also included a match between Julinho Athletics Ladies and FNB Women Super League champions FC Ongos. The game ended in a goalless draw, but FC Ongos emerged victorious in a 3-1 penalty shootout, taking home N. dollars 200,000, while the runners-up received N. dollars 100,000. Another highlight was the game between the MTC Omake Celebrity Team and Namibia Breweries Danger Point Celebrity Team, which concluded in a 3-3 draw. The MTC Omake Celebrity Team claimed victory with a 5-4 win in the penalty shootout.
