Christmas 2025: Governor Abdoul Karim Zongo Calls for Unity and Resilience in the Sahel

Ouagadougou: On the occasion of the celebration of the Nativity, the governor of the Sahel region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, delivered a message on Thursday in Dori to the Christian community and all the people of the region, under the banner of peace, solidarity, and resilience.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the message, made public by the communication service of the Dori governorate, saw the top official of the region extending his warmest wishes for peace and health to the entire Christian community of the Sahel. He reminded everyone that Christmas is a time for reflection, sharing, and strengthening fundamental human values. "This celebration should be an opportunity for every believer and every citizen to renew their commitment to peace and living together," he emphasized.

Governor Zongo also offered a pious thought to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). He praised their courage and sense of sacrifice in a challenging security environment. According to him, these men and women are a vital bulwark for the protection of the population and the integrity of the territory. He called on the people to show them their support and gratitude.

For Governor Zongo, the Nativity celebration should be seen as a strong symbol of resilience in the face of the security challenges facing Burkina Faso, particularly the Sahel region. He encouraged people to keep hope alive despite adversity and to remain confident about the future. "The light of Christmas must illuminate our hearts and strengthen our collective determination," he said.

The governor also urged the region's inhabitants to cultivate love for their neighbors and strengthen social cohesion, which he described as the foundation of the Burkinab¨ people's strength. He called on every citizen to take concrete actions of fraternity and solidarity in order to consolidate harmonious and lasting coexistence, the guarantee of a prosperous and peaceful Sahel.
