Ganzourgou: Christians and Muslims of Zorgho gathered on the night of Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Youth and Culture Center for an interreligious prayer, responding to the call of the Catholic community. They came together to implore divine grace for peace, stability, and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this was the second edition of the interfaith prayer and included the presence of a representative of the provincial High Commissioner, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba. The gathering was seen as a significant symbol of unity and solidarity amid ongoing security and social challenges in the region.
The event featured prayer sessions led by representatives from each religious community. Pastor Daniel, representing the Protestant community, prayed for divine wisdom for the President of Burkina Faso and his government, seeking just and equitable governance. Pastor Lazare focused on the country's fighting forces, while Pastor Salmon prayed for divine grace to foster unity and brotherhood among the Burkinab¨.
The Catholic community's intercession emphasized the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit, praying for peace and national reconciliation. Father L©onard Nadimb¨ga highlighted the initiative's alignment with Christ's teachings, which encourage responding to suffering with prayer and goodness.
Muslim faithful, led by Imam El Hadj Adama Sissao from the great mosque of Zorgho, initiated their prayer with the national anthem in Arabic. They prayed for divine protection for the country, the President of Faso, defense and security forces, and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
August Anselme Ou©draogo, representing the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou province, praised the initiative and called on religious communities to maintain unity and resist divisive influences. Father L©onard Nadimb¨ga concluded the session by expressing gratitude to administrative authorities and religious communities for their participation, capturing the moment with a family photo symbolizing spiritual unity.
