Luanda: A sum of 117 new cases of cholera were registered, in the last 24 hours, in the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Icolo and Bengo, Cabinda, Malanje, and Cubango.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health (MINSA)’s newsletter, which updates daily the cholera data in the country, reported that of the 117 confirmed cases, 80 are from Luanda, 20 from Bengo, 7 from Icolo and Bengo, 4 from Uíge, 3 from Cabinda, 2 from Malanje, and 1 from Cubango Province.
The document also reports 4 deaths in Luanda during the last 24 hours. In the aforementioned period, 91 people were discharged and 198 patients are currently hospitalized with the disease. The affected people range in age from 2 to 100 years, 56% of whom are males.
Since the outbreak, a cumulative total of 5,336 cases have been reported, 2,700 in Luanda, 1,926 in Bengo, 600 in Icolo and Bengo, 44 in Malanje, 29 in Cuanza-Sul, 9 in Huambo, 7 in Huíla, 6 in Cabinda and Uíge, 5 in Zaire, 2 in Cuanza-Norte while Cunene and Cubango reported on
ly 1.
In total, 193 deaths have occurred, of which 96 in Luanda, 72 in Bengo, 19 in Icolo and Bengo, 3 in Malanje, 2 in Cuanza-Sul, and one in Cabinda.
