Luanda: A total of 157 new cases of cholera were registered in the last 24 hours in the provinces of Luanda, Cuanza-Norte, Benguela, Malanje, Icolo e Bengo, Bengo, Cabinda, and Zaire.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) updates the cholera numbers in the country and reports 7 casualties in the last 24 hours. Three deaths were reported in each of Benguela and Luanda, with one casualty in Bengo.
The statement detailed that out of the 157 new cases, Luanda accounted for 51, Cuanza-Norte 35, Benguela 30, Malanje 14, Icolo e Bengo 12, Cabinda 5, and Zaire 1. During the same period, 89 individuals were discharged from medical care, while 252 remain hospitalized.
Since the outbreak began in January, a total of 8,892 cases have been reported across the country. Luanda reported 4,252 cases, followed by Bengo with 2,520, and Icolo e Bengo with 831. Other significant numbers include 584 in Cuanza-Norte and 279 in Benguela. Deaths have totaled 342, with Luanda experiencing the highest number of fatalities at 159, followed by Bengo with 97.
