Chinese Stocks Decline as Semiconductor Shares Gain

Windhoek: Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index decreasing by 0.19 percent to settle at 3,889.5 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, closing 0.93 percent lower at 13,231.47 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices reached 2.35 trillion yuan, approximately 330.95 billion U.S. dollars, marking a decrease from 2.52 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Despite the overall downturn, shares related to non-ferrous metals and semiconductors experienced gains. In contrast, stocks associated with gaming and liquor faced significant losses.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 1.11 percent, closing at 3,078.76 points on Monday.
