Vientiane: Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index declining by 0.8 percent to settle at 3,346.04 points. The downturn was mirrored in the Shenzhen Component Index, which saw a decrease of 1.17 percent, closing at 10,854.5 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices was recorded at 1.93 trillion yuan, approximately 269.1 billion U.S. dollars. This marks a decrease from the previous trading day’s turnover of 2.08 trillion yuan. Sectors such as media and entertainment, printing and packaging, and home appliances experienced significant losses. In contrast, stocks in the textile and petroleum sectors showed gains.
Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped by 1.13 percent, closing at 2,240.59 points.
