Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising 1.18 percent to 3,996.94 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw an increase, closing 1.51 percent higher at 13,489.4 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of the two indices amounted to 2.34 trillion yuan, approximately 330.13 billion U.S. dollars. This marks an increase from the previous trading day's turnover of 1.97 trillion yuan. Stocks related to storage chips and controlled nuclear fusion were among the top gainers, whereas gaming and wind power equipment shares experienced significant losses.
Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, increased by 1.98 percent, closing at 3,234.45 points on Monday.
