Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.4 percent to 3,931.05 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw a decline, closing 0.76 percent lower at 12,980.82 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.71 trillion yuan (about 241.2 billion U.S. dollars), marking a decrease from 1.73 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Despite the overall decline, shares related to lithium mines and property management experienced gains, in contrast to those related to seafood and organic silicon, which faced significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, ended the day with a loss of 1.12 percent, closing at 3,042.34 points on Thursday.
