BEIJING: Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropping by 1.39 percent to finish at 3,421.97 points. The trading session reflected a downward trend as investors responded to various market factors.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Shenzhen Component Index also experienced a decline, closing 0.65 percent lower at 11,314.46 points. Despite the downturn in these indices, the combined turnover for both reached 2.55 trillion yuan (approximately 354.5 billion U.S. dollars), showing an increase from the previous trading day’s turnover of 2.51 trillion yuan.
In terms of sector performance, shares in the aircraft manufacturing sector faced significant losses, while stocks related to medical devices emerged as notable gainers. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, saw a modest decrease of 0.07 percent, closing at 2,390.8 points on Tuesday.
