Chinese Stock Market Gains as Shanghai Composite Index Rises

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.55 percent to 3,976.52 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw an increase, closing 0.19 percent higher at 13,404.06 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.11 trillion yuan, approximately 297.74 billion U.S. dollars, which is a decrease from 2.32 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. Notably, shares related to the media and entertainment, shipbuilding, and coal sectors led the gains, providing momentum to the market.

In contrast, sectors such as non-ferrous metals, chemical fibers, and environmental protection industries experienced significant losses. Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.29 percent to close at 3,196.87 points on Monday.
