Chinese Stock Market Ends Thursday with Mixed Results

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising by 0.29 percent to settle at 3,875.26 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index saw a decrease of 0.25 percent, ending at 12,875.19 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices reached 1.71 trillion yuan, approximately 241.6 billion U.S. dollars, which marks a decline from the 1.78 trillion yuan reported on the previous trading day. The market saw gains in sectors such as motorcycle production, papermaking, and water and gas supply. In contrast, stocks related to building materials, media, and cement experienced significant declines.

Meanwhile, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, dropped by 0.44 percent, closing at 3,031.3 points on Thursday.
