Chinese Shares Decline with Technology Stocks Leading Losses

Shanghai: Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.39 percent to 3,358.73 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also ended the day 0.99 percent lower at 10,736.19 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.61 trillion yuan (224.5 billion U.S. dollars), reflecting a decrease from 1.68 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. Stocks in the robotics, semiconductors, and chips sectors experienced significant declines. Conversely, the mining and electricity sectors saw gains.

Additionally, the ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 1.15 percent to close at 2,166 points on Thursday.
