Chinese Shares Close Higher Amid Sector Variations

Seoul: Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rising by 0.48 percent to 3,509.68 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also showed an increase, closing 0.47 percent higher at 10,631.13 points.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices amounted to 1.49 trillion yuan, approximately 208.36 billion U.S. dollars. This represented a slight decrease from the 1.51 trillion yuan turnover recorded on the previous trading day.

The property sector and rare earth stocks emerged as the top performers in the market, while stocks in the gaming, consumer electronics, and military defense sectors faced significant losses. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, registered a gain of 0.22 percent, closing at 2,189.58 points.
