Amman — The 60th Diplomatic Charity Bazaar held in Jordan on Saturday saw a notable turnout at the Chinese Embassy’s pavilion, which featured a rich display of Chinese culture, including traditional foods, clothing, and ornaments. The event, known for fostering cultural diplomacy and charitable giving, drew significant interest among attendees eager to explore diverse global cultures.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Chen Chuandong, praised the embassy’s involvement, reflecting on the shared values of philanthropy prevalent in both Chinese and Arab traditions. “We hope to spread love to those in need through this event,” Chen stated. The bazaar, which was inaugurated by Princess Basma bint Talal, featured contributions from 37 foreign diplomatic missions, each showcasing their unique cultural heritage.
Visitors were particularly attracted to the Chinese pavilion, where they could engage with aspects of Chinese art and cuisine. Ambassador Chen remarked on the strong bonds of friendship reflected through the enthusiastic participation and interest in Chinese culture. Mai Al-Nasour, a visitor interviewed by Xinhua, expressed her fondness for the bazaar, noting her particular interest in Chinese green tea.
The proceeds from the bazaar benefit the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Charity, a care home for disadvantaged orphaned boys founded in 1958 by Queen Zein Al Sharaf, Princess Basma’s mother. This annual event not only serves as a vital platform for cultural exchange but also supports the charity’s educational programs, playing a crucial role in Amman’s cultural and philanthropic activities.
