Chinese Pavilion Draws Large Crowds at Jordan’s Diplomatic Charity Bazaar

AMMAN — The 60th Diplomatic Charity Bazaar held in Jordan saw a significant turnout at the Chinese Embassy’s pavilion on Saturday, where visitors were treated to a rich display of Chinese culture including traditional foods, beverages, clothing, and ornaments.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Chen Chuandong, voiced his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing the alignment of charitable values between Chinese and Arab cultures. "We hope to spread love to those in need through this event," Chen stated, reflecting on the significance of the bazaar, which was inaugurated by Princess Basma bint Talal and featured participation from 37 foreign diplomatic missions.

The Chinese pavilion particularly captivated attendees with its array of cultural offerings, from intricate traditional ornaments to a variety of Chinese cuisine, demonstrating the depth of cultural appreciation and friendship between the Jordanian people and the Chinese community. Ambassador Chen remarked on the strong public interest as indicative of the enduring ties between the two peoples.

Regular attendee Mai Al-Nasour shared her annual tradition of exploring the bazaar to immerse herself in diverse cultures, noting a specific fondness for Chinese green tea. The event not only serves as a cultural exposition but also supports a noble cause. Proceeds from the bazaar benefit the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Charity, a home for disadvantaged orphan boys founded in 1958 by the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf, mother of Princess Basma.

The charity uses the funds raised to support educational programs for the orphans, making the bazaar a critical event for both cultural diplomacy and community support. As a staple of Amman’s cultural calendar, the bazaar continues to foster solidarity and cooperation in helping those in need while providing a platform for nations to showcase their cultural heritage.
