Chinese Miner MMG Acquires Botswana’s Khoemacau Copper Mine for US$1.88 Billion

Botswana – MMG Ltd, a Chinese metal mining company, announced its acquisition of Canada-based Cuprous Capital, the parent company of Khoemacau copper mine in Botswana, for US$1.88 billion.

According to Africa News Agency, MMG chairman Jiqing Xu, in a statement, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition, stating that it aligns with the company’s vision to create a leading international mining company for a low carbon future. He expressed confidence that the purchase of Khoemacau mine will generate long-term value for shareholders and contribute to the company’s environmental goals.
