ADDIS ABABA: Oliver Chinganya, Director at the UNECA Africa Center for Statistics, has highlighted a significant rise in the number of Africans learning Chinese. Speaking at the Chinese Language Day event in Addis Ababa, Chinganya noted that factors such as the language’s status as a United Nations official working language and increased economic ties with China have spurred this interest.
