Chinese and Peruvian Leaders to Virtually Inaugurate Chancay Port.

Lima: Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in a signed article published by Peruvian media outlet El Peruano that he and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte will partake in the inauguration ceremony of Chancay Port via video during his visit to Peru.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the article titled “China-Peru Friendship: Setting Sail Toward an Even Brighter Future” was released as President Xi travels to Peru for the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Lima and a state visit to the Latin American country. The completion of Chancay Port is expected to establish a multidimensional and efficient network of connectivity, linking the Peruvian coast to its inland regions, the broader Latin American region, and further to the Caribbean.

President Xi emphasized that Chancay Port will serve as the starting point for an “Inca Trail of the New Era,” promoting regional development and integration. He called for collaborative efforts between China and Peru to ensure the port’s success from its construction phase
to its operational phase, facilitating a route from Chancay to Shanghai that will drive common development and prosperity among China, Peru, and Latin America.

President Xi articulated China’s readiness to partner with Peru to advocate for true multilateralism, foster a multipolar world characterized by equality and order, and support universally beneficial economic globalization. He remarked on the rapid global transformations occurring and the historical crossroads humanity currently faces.

Additionally, President Xi expressed China’s willingness to collaborate with Peru on implementing the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, aiming to build a community with a shared future for mankind. He reaffirmed China’s firm support for Peru’s APEC presidency and its commitment to making the meeting successful and productive, enhancing Asia-Pacific cooperation with a distinctive “Lima Imprint,” and contributing to an Asia-Pacific community with shared
aspirations.
