China’s State Council Announces Changes in Key Official Positions


Beijing: China’s State Council on Thursday announced the appointment and removal of several officials in key government positions. Tan Quan has been appointed as the assistant minister of public security, signaling a shift in the leadership within this critical department.



According to Namibia press Agency, Duan Yijun has been appointed as the director of the National Religious Affairs Administration, taking over from Chen Ruifeng. This appointment means Duan will no longer hold the position of deputy head of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission. The move is part of a broader realignment within the administration.



Additionally, Gao Xiang will assume the role of president of Dalian University of Technology at a vice ministerial level, succeeding Jia Zhenyuan. This change indicates an emphasis on bringing new leadership to the university’s administration.



In other significant changes, Wang Dongwei has been removed from his position as vice minister of finance. Meanwhile, Wang Shuxin will no longer serve as the president of Chongqing University, marking further adjustments in the leadership of higher education institutions.



These appointments and removals reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline leadership across various sectors.
