CAIRO - On Tuesday, the first day of China's weeklong National Day holiday, the country's rail sector is poised to manage an anticipated 21 million passenger trips, marking a significant surge in travel activity.
According to Namibia Press Agency, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. has announced plans to deploy an additional 1,476 passenger trains to accommodate the expected increase in travel demand. This adjustment is part of a broader effort to ensure smooth transit during the holiday, with over 12,000 passenger trains scheduled to run daily throughout the period. The heightened travel activity began early, with more than 17.28 million trips recorded on Monday alone.
The National Day holiday, celebrated from October 1 through October 7, typically sees millions of Chinese residents traveling across the country, often for family reunions and tourism, significantly boosting passenger numbers on public transport.
