Chengdu: As a developing country and a member of the Global South, China has always stood with the Global South, a spokesperson said on Tuesday. Over the past two decades, countries of the Global South have contributed as high as 80 percent to global economic growth, and the collective rise of the Global South is a distinctive feature of the great transformation across the world, said Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th National People's Congress, at a press conference.
According to Namibia Press Agency, China will always be a participant and advocate of South-South cooperation, Lou added. China has prioritized its support for the development of the Global South under the Global Development Initiative.
Lou emphasized that China has provided aid to over 160 countries within its capacity, and announced zero tariff treatment to 100 percent of tax lines for more than 40 least developed countries. He noted the severe challenges that world peace and development still face, reiterating China's commitment to promoting a community with a shared future for humanity.
Furthermore, Lou highlighted China's efforts to accelerate the implementation of three global initiatives: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.
