Beijing: Liu Jinsong, director general of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held consultations with Kanai Masaaki, director-general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, on Tuesday in Beijing, according to a foreign ministry spokesperson.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Mao Ning stated during a regular news briefing that China lodged stern representations with Japan concerning Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks about China. China expressed that Takaichi's statements violated international law, disrupted the post-war international order, and contradicted the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan. These remarks were said to undermine the political foundation of China-Japan relations and provoke public anger in China.
Mao Ning further conveyed China's firm request for Japan to retract its statements, cease aggravating China-related issues, and take concrete steps to acknowledge its errors, rectify its stance, and protect the political foundation of China-Japan relations.
