MANAMA: China has to take no less than one point from their encounter with Bahrain to keep alive its chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, said Chinese midfielder Wei Shihao on Wednesday. The Chinese side, which sits bottom of Group C with three points after four matches, will on Thursday take on Bahrain, which has collected five points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Wei emphasized the importance of the match after the Chinese team arrived in Manama. “All our players have only one aim for this match, that is to get at least one point from it,” Wei stated. He further commented on the necessity of securing points in matches against teams like Bahrain, regardless of whether they are playing at home or away, as a strategy for progressing to the finals.
China’s goalkeeper Wang Dalei supported Wei’s perspective, emphasizing the need for the Chinese players to deliver their best performance in the crucial Bahrain game.
