China-Namibia Military Friendship Deepens, Marking PLA’s 97th Anniversary

WINDHOEK – The enduring friendship between China and Namibia continues to thrive amidst changing international dynamics, according to Colonel Li Shujun, Defence Attaché of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), during a reception commemorating the PLA’s 97th anniversary.

According to Namibia Press Agency, speaking at the Chinese Embassy in Windhoek on Wednesday, the PLA has overcome significant challenges over its 97-year history to secure national independence, liberate its people, and contribute to global peace and human progress. He highlighted the robust relationship between the PLA and the Namibian Defence Force (NDF), describing it as a cornerstone of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.

Colonel Li pointed to the tangible outcomes of this partnership, including high-level military visits, joint training, and collaborations in equipment and technology. He emphasized the consistent and prompt support received from Namibia, underscoring the mutual commitment to deepening military cooperation.

Looking ahead, Li affirmed the PLA’s readiness to assist in the development and modernization of the NDF, and pledged continued collaboration to protect mutual interests and promote regional and global stability.
