China-Kilifi County Partnership To Spur Economic Growth

Kilifi County Government, led by Governor Gideon Mung’aro, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jiangxi Province and Jiujiang City leaders that will serve as the foundation of cooperation between the regions across various sectors.

The Chinese delegation led by Mr. Ren Zhufeng, the Executive Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, and Mr. Xiong Jinxi, the Deputy Mayor of Jiujiang Municipal, agreed to partner with the devolved unit to explore opportunities for business and people’s empowerment.

The governor pitched Kilifi County’s wealth in agriculture, tourism, and culture, inviting the leadership of the two regions to explore different areas of investment and expand trade with Kilifi County.

‘Our opportunities are vast and diverse, spanning investments, business support, and agriculture, including the import of unique and nutritious products such as baobab fruit byproducts, mangoes, coconut tree byproducts, and more from Kilifi County,’ the governor explained.

urther highlighted some of the values that the partnership would bring to the county, including boosting the blue economy, the health department, youth exchange programmes, innovation, and technology, adding that combined efforts between the three regions hold power to transcend geographical boundaries and enrich the societies represented.

Governor Mung’aro also expressed his enthusiasm and willingness to embrace every opportunity that promises growth and prosperity for the people of Kilifi County.

‘In my capacity as the governor of Kilifi County, I wholeheartedly embrace every opportunity that promises growth and prosperity for our people. Together, we can forge a brighter future deeply rooted in friendship, cooperation, and shared aspirations,’ he said.

In an effort to further strengthen the partnership, the governor extended an invitation to the leadership of Jiangxi Province and Jiujiang City to attend the inaugural Kilifi Innovations and Business Summit that will take place on October 28, where they w
ill get a chance to meet with different innovators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries in the county.

In addition to Governor Mung’aro and County Executive Members, the signing ceremony was attended by officials from Jiangxi Province and Jiujiang City, who expressed their commitment to the success of this collaboration.
