According to Africa’s Development Dynamics 2023, a report published jointly by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the African Union, between 2017 and 2022, China’s foreign direct investment in Africa amounted to $74 billion, representing 18% of global foreign direct investment flows to Africa, and ranking on a par with Europe and the United States.
In the first half of this year, China directly invested $1.82 billion in Africa, an increase of 4.4% year-on-year. Chinese companies are increasingly confident in the African market. More than 3,000 Chinese companies have invested heavily in Africa, over 70% of them private enterprises, the mainstay of Chinese investment in Africa.
