Beijing—Anticipation for cross-border travel is high as China braces for a significant increase in tourism during the upcoming National Day holiday, with daily international trips projected to reach 1.75 million.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) reported an expected 18.5 percent year-on-year rise in inbound and outbound travel. The peak travel days are forecasted for October 1, the start of the holiday, and October 6. The surge is attributed to growing interest in cross-border tourism, with major international airports experiencing increased passenger flow and consistently high traffic at land ports near Hong Kong and Macao.
To manage the anticipated increase, the NIA is implementing several measures. These include strengthening traffic and port operation monitoring, providing early traffic updates to aid travelers in planning, and enhancing guidance and organization at border crossings. Additional personnel will be deployed, and extra inspection lanes will be opened to streamline the travel process.
China’s National Day on October 1 marks the beginning of a week-long holiday, lasting until October 7, celebrating the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
