Luanda: China's Defence Attaché to Angola, Zhaonan Zu, announced that China is aiming to enhance its bilateral cooperation with Angola in the realm of defence, focusing on military training and humanitarian assistance. According to Angola Press News Agency, the cooperation between China and Angola is guided by a global strategy based on mutual respect, equality, and reciprocity, involving various sectors. The announcement was made during an event celebrating the 99th anniversary of the Chinese Liberation Army, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Angola. Zhaonan Zu emphasized the importance of fostering exchanges between officers from the two armed forces to contribute to peace and regional development. He stressed the need for consistent and stable development of military relations between the two nations. The attaché highlighted equipment cooperation and military training, tailored towards human resource development, as crucial elements of the friendship between the Chinese and Angolan armed forces. He re ferenced the Chinese Navy's Peace Ark hospital ship, which offered free medical services in Angola in 2017 and 2024, as a testament to the ongoing friendship and cooperation. Zhaonan Zu expressed optimism about the future of military relations between China and Angola, stating that the anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army presents an opportunity to strengthen ties with the Angolan Armed Forces. The representative positively evaluated the long-standing relations between Angola and China, which began in 1983. The event at the Chinese Embassy in Angola saw attendance from members of the National Assembly, officers of the Angolan Armed Forces, and members of the diplomatic corps. The People's Liberation Army, founded on 1 August 1927, serves as the main military force of the People's Republic of China.
