Addis Ababa: China and Africa are committed to furthering their cooperation to achieve modernization, remarked Ambassador Hu Changchun, Head of Mission of China to the African Union. Speaking at a dialogue on the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and China-Africa development cooperation, held at the African Union Headquarters, Hu emphasized the importance of the collaboration for the shared growth of both regions.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the GDI aligns with Africa’s Agenda 2063 and is designed to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He highlighted China’s readiness to work with the African Union, UN, and African governments to promote dynamic and efficient partnerships aimed at addressing modernization challenges.
Professor Mohamed Belhocine, Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation at the AU, described China-Africa cooperation as a mutually beneficial partnership that promotes global development. He reiterated that the GDI supports global development efforts, bridging the gap between the Global North and South.
Ethiopia’s State Minister of Labor and Skills, Teshale Berecha, praised the long-standing partnership between Ethiopia and China, particularly in infrastructure development. He expressed optimism that China’s experience in education and technology would provide valuable lessons for Africa’s development.
