Tana River County, Kenya – Child Welfare Society Kenya has embarked on a relief mission to assist approximately 6000 families affected by floods in Tana River County. Ms. Jane Mwangi, the organization’s coordinator, announced this initiative during a relief distribution event at Hamesa Manyatta in Hola.

According to Kenya News Agency, the aid includes essential food and non-food items. During the event, 380 families received 960 bags of rice, 600 cartons of cooking fat, 400 bags each of green grams and beans, 250 bags of maize, and 200 blankets. She emphasized that the aid targets vulnerable groups such as children, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities, who are particularly impacted by the floods. Ms. Mwangi stressed that the relief items should solely benefit those who cannot support themselves during these challenging times.

The deputy county commissioner of Tana River, Andrew Mutua, present at the event, expressed gratitude to the organization for their timely intervention. He also called for more organizations to step forward and assist the flood-affected victims in the region.
