Chiedi Allocates Over AKZ 100 Million for Poverty Alleviation Initiatives

Chiedi: At least 125 million kwanzas will be spent in the first half of this year on six initiatives in the municipality of Chiedi, Cunene Province, as part of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Poverty Reduction (PIDLCP). According to Angola Press News Agency, notable actions include the rehabilitation of the Chiedi primary school, construction of sheds at health centers in the municipality and the Okawe district, a medicine depot, and a corral for the formal sale of 30 animals. On Monday, the administrator of Chiedi, Ezequias Valungameka, stated that the program includes acquiring two water borehole pumps to replace those vandalized in Okawe and Omuhongo. Valungameka also mentioned the purchase of five tons of sorghum, millet, and corn seeds for farming families and the formation of four agricultural cooperatives to boost production. "These actions were approved at the end of 2025, and currently, we are working towards their implementation based on the available funds," he explained. The In tegrated Local Development and Poverty Reduction Program (PIDLCP) allocates 336 million kwanzas annually to municipal administrations. The municipality of Chiedi, formerly the commune of Namacunde, has 56,689 inhabitants dedicated to agriculture and farming. Cunene increased from six to 14 municipalities: Cuanhama, Cahama, Cuvelai, Curoca, Ombadja, Namacunde, Cafima, Nehone, Chiedi, Mupa, Chissuata, Naulila, Chitado, and Humbe.
