Changsha University Hosts Burkinabe Media Executives for Omnimedia Training

Changsha: A delegation of 28 Burkinabe media executives recently visited Changsha University in southern China’s Hunan Province to participate in a training seminar on omnimedia, a cutting-edge approach to media integration. The seminar, held from October 11 to 31, aimed to strengthen media cooperation between Burkina Faso and China.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation, led by Bakary Koné, mission officer of the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism of Burkina Faso, engaged with officials at Changsha University to explore its Omnimedia Training Center. The center is renowned for its 3D virtual presentation studio and its comprehensive training programs offered by the Malashan Department of New Media. These programs provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge, utilizing high-definition cameras and advanced technological sets.

Senior journalist Nie Xiong of the Hunan Broadcasting System explained that omnimedia represents a significant technological advanc
ement and integration of various media forms, including text, images, sound, and artificial intelligence. This innovative approach combines digital technologies with traditional media, fostering the integration of science, technology, and culture into media programs. Students trained in omnimedia are equipped to produce impactful broadcasts, films, and short videos highlighting Chinese history, culture, and expertise for distribution on modern networked media.

The university, with an enrollment of 160,000 students, offers bachelor’s programs in Mandarin and English and master’s degrees exclusively in Mandarin. Two African students from Uganda, who are scholarship beneficiaries, are currently enrolled at the institution. China, boasting over 2,200 integrated media outlets, is seen as a leader in omnimedia management, as noted by Nie Xiong.

The Burkinabe delegation’s visit is part of a broader cooperation effort between Burkina Faso and China in the media sector. In addition to attending lectures, the executi
ves visited various media, training, and cultural creation centers, as well as tourist sites within Hunan Province.
