Sayouba Kiema of the Kougrin-Louda checkerboard club in Kaya was crowned national checkers champion on Saturday August 26, 2023 in Ouagadougou, noted an AIB journalist.

The checkers player Sayouba Kiéma recorded a victory and two draws against his challenger Ilboudo Maxime from Ouagadougou in this championship. He succeeds Marc Tieba Ouagadougou, defending champion. His trophy was presented to him at the Higher Institute for Studies and Civil Protection in Ouagadougou.

The individual national checkers championship for the 2022-2023 season took place from August 14 to 27, 2023 in Ouagadougou.
