Lubango: The Smedes Railway (CFM) is set to launch Angola's first railway museum on September 12, transforming a section of its historic facilities in Lubango, Huíla Province. The museum will be located in the front park of the infrastructure established in 1905, as reported by ANGOP. According to Angola Press News Agency, António Coelho da Cruz, Chairman of CFM, stated that renovation efforts are currently underway to prepare the museum space. The museum will feature exhibitions and notable artifacts from the company's history, including preserved historic locomotives and other vintage equipment. The initiative aims to create an open-air museum, making the history of railway transportation accessible to the public. The museum's manager noted that CFM boasts a substantial historical collection and a comprehensive technical library. Plans are in place to establish a permanent venue for conserving this collection, underscoring CFM's dedication to preserving the national railway heritage.
