Bobo-Dioulasso: The Burkina Football Hope Training Center (CFFEB) emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the Ligue 2 Super Cup, defeating the Bobo Young Hopefuls Association (AJEB) at the Wobi Stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso. The win was observed on site by AIB.
According to Burkina Information Agency, CFFEB, the champions of Group A in the Ligue 2 championship, asserted their dominance over AJEB, the champions of Group B. The Burkinabe Football Federation, through the Professional Football League, organized this super cup to determine the true Ligue 2 champion of the season, despite both teams advancing to the elite Ligue 1.
Despite the advantage of playing on their home ground in Bobo-Dioulasso, AJEB was unable to capitalize on this, as CFFEB took the spotlight. Chabane Kaboré’s decisive goal in the 62nd minute secured the victory for Charles Doanio’s team, marking them as the first winners of this competition.
AJEB, despite the enthusiastic support from their fans, could not equalize, resulting in the
ir loss of the new FBF trophy. Although there was no cash prize for the super cup, each team received 2,500,000 FCFA and medals for topping their respective groups.
CFFEB’s coach, Biem Ghislain, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, stating, “my team didn’t shy away from the game, and the result is there. The Holy Grail.”
Following this Super Cup, Fasofoot organizers are set to conclude the season with two remaining competitions: the classification match and the final of the Faso Cup. Both AJEB and CFFEB will now prepare for life in the elite league.
